High End Holy Grail Foundations

On a bad skin day (or just a bad day full stop) there’s nothing quite like a high end foundation to reassure you that you’re covered. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of really great high street foundations, but they’re very every day. Sometimes you just need that something extra, a foundation that you can wear to make you feel (and look) better. Birthdays, Christmas, holidays, nights out, interviews, weekends, the list goes on… a good high end foundation has got your back though the good times and the bad. I’ve put together my top three (not in order) of recommendations if you’re on the hunt for your BFF (best foundation forever).

Estee Lauder | Double Wear

This is the first high end foundation I ever bought and to this day its the one I use on a day to day basis. At £32.50 its one of the most affordable high end foundations and I swear its worth every penny. One of the many reasons I love this foundation is that although its medium coverage, it is buildable, so you can go from natural looking day time to full coverage night out with just an extra layer. Another benefit of the product is that they sell fifty shades, even if you’re not a fan of the foundation you have to admit, thats pretty impressive. If you’ve only ever used high street brand foundation, I’d say that this is a good starter product to get you onto the high end foundation ladder. Its so easy to use, a good price, and its even available at Boots so if you can’t justify the £32.50 then just save up your advantage points and pop to your local store to get colour matched!

High End Foundations

Georgio Armani | Luminous Silk

My most recent foundation purchase, I fell in love with this instantly. I’d heard so many people raving about this product that I specifically put it on my list to pick up at the Selfridges beauty hall. As soon as the Armani lady colour matched me and offered to touch up my foundation, I knew I had to have it. At £40, we’re getting into more expensive territory, but everything about it is expensive, from the gorgeous frosted glass bottle, to the helpful Armani concession staff and the overall look and feel of the product. Again, this foundation is buildable, so you’re pretty much in full control of how much coverage you want it to provide. I’m a fan of a fuller coverage and this is so easy to apply and just gives such a nice finish.

High End Foundations

Marc Jacobs | Re(marc)able

Last but most certainly not least, this product 100% lives up to its name and is my number one foundation. This is the foundation that I will reach for on those special occasions, on days I want my skin to look absolutely flawless, I couldn’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a product that will do the same for you. Unfortunately and oddly, seeing as this is my favourite, I do have to mention one drawback in that unless I use the Porefessional primer by Benefit on each side of my nose, it amplifies my pores in this area, unlike other foundations. This isn’t a biggie for me as like I said, I just counteract it with primer, but it might be worth noting if you do have quite large pores to maybe see if you can get a tester of the product first. Its a full coverage foundation, so I find it a bit much (and a bit expensive) for every day use, but this is great because it means that a little goes a long way and it lasts absolutely ages.

High End Foundations

I’d love to know if anyone loves these products as much as I do or has any other high end recommendations?

  1. I’ve only recently started to dabble in high-end foundations so this was a really helpful post! Currently using a Bobbi Brown one which I LOVE but I’m interested in trying out the Estee Lauder one as everyone swears by it. Thanks for writing such a helpful post!x
