Foundation Review | Ordinary or Worth the Hype?

A couple of weeks ago I hadn’t even heard of it, had anyone? One day nowhere and the next everywhere, every other tweet was about The Ordinary, their products were all over Instagram, and Snapchat magazine stories were hailing their foundation a new cult beauty product.

Did I need a new foundation? Absolutely not. However when a product that’s being sold on ASOS for £6(?!?!?) had this much hype around it, I just couldn’t not try it. I purchased The Coverage Foundation in 2.1p Medium. As far as I’m aware the brand itself has a very small (if at all) high street presence, which is the only downside, as I hate buying foundation online and having to guess my colour match. If they keep doing as well as they are now though, I’d say that we’ll be seeing much more of them in stores before long.

For full disclose, when it comes to foundation, I’m usually a total ambassador for high end, see my favourites here. This though, is a total game changer. The quality is amazing, it lasts as long as any of my others, it has excellent coverage (I apply two layers to achieve this), and it doesn’t dry out or aggravate my skin. Oh, and the products are both cruelty free and vegan, (I’m not vegan myself, but I always take it as a plus). I actually cannot believe that this product is being sold for £6.

To summarise: Go and buy as many of these as you can before they sell out again. This is one of the best £6’s I’ve ever spent.

After trying this I’d love to try out more products from The Ordinary, if you have any recommendations please let me know in the comments!

  1. I’m always very sceptical about trying out a new foundation just in case it’s going to be another one that’s going to be sat in a drawer with the others. I have seen this going around alot but wasnt too sure whether to try it. This review makes me a little more inclined to try it out.xx
