Does anyone know where February went? In stark comparison to January, which felt like a year in itself, February has come and gone in the blink of an eye! The one thing that these months did have in common, was that they were both far too cold for my liking (you’d have thought that living in the UK I’d have gotten used to it by now, but no). We all know that cold weather comes with the panic around drying out skin and brittle nails, so the majority of my favourites this month are skincare related.
You may know by now that I’m often a huge advocate for high-end skincare, and I tend to believe that you get what you pay for. I may however, have to eat my words here because this moisturiser is fantastic and costs less than a caramel latte. I bought it at the airport on the way to Rome last year after panicking that I hadn’t packed any type of moisturiser in my carry-on. I may have used it once or twice but soon forgot about it. I revisited it this month as I’ve been making a conscious effort to use up products (I have a terrible habit of buying new things far quicker than I can use up those I already own, which leaves me juggling eight different moisturisers at any one time). Simple’s Kind to Skin doesn’t overtake Clinique’s Moisture Surge as my favourite moisturiser, but considering it will cost you £32.86 less, its definitely one that I would recommend.
This product does what it says on the bottle. You can read more about why I recently switched to this toner here, but to summarise, its far more hydrating than my usual toner while doing just as good a job. This product smells exactly how you would expect it to considering its Spa brand status and it’s relaxing scent makes it perfect for evening use.
My M&S 2017 Beauty advent calendar gifted me with a sample of this and its honestly one of the best at home face masks I’ve ever used. Over Winter I have quite dull skin, but after using this once a week for the past three weeks, its become noticeably brighter and generally more healthy looking. The full sized product comes with an application brush, so I’m excited to re-purchase as I think that its a really handy feature for mess free application.
I’m not sure if its just a matter of poor luck, but recently I haven’t been overly impressed with my usual go to lash- Ardell’s Demi Wispies. I noticed the Gigi lashes whilst browsing the PLT website, and they looked so pretty I just had to have them. In person, they look exactly as they do online, naturally pretty and fanned out exactly as I like them to be. I’ve applied these same ones twice so far and they still have life in them, so I’ll be repurchasing and I would definitely recommend them for anyone who likes everyday wear, natural looking false lashes.
The Ivy, Chelsea Garden was on my list of places I’d love to visit this year, and by visit I mean take Instagram pictures in front of. My partner and I were in London recently and stopped by for brunch, the whole restaurant is absolutely beautiful from the inside out, the service is impeccable and the menu was perfect. I decided on the Hot Buttermilk Pancakes and The Ivy Set Cooler (cucumber, apple, lime, mint and soda, which is basically my perfect drink). If you’d like to check out more photos of this place (and you should because its gorgeous) then head over to my Instagram.
I almost forgot about Valentines Day! I was very spoilt by my other half in the morning, and despite the terrible weather we ventured to a local restaurant that we hadn’t visited before in the evening. If you live around Norfolk or ever visit, then this is definitely a restaurant I would recommend. They’re always busy, which speaks for itself, and the food was gorgeous.
I hope you had a great February and kept warm! What did you love?
