Coloursport is a brand that I haven’t used in a very long time, six years to be precise. I remember it so clearly because it was six years ago that I transitioned from high-school to sixth-form, which meant actually being allowed to wear make-up. I know right, a pretty big deal. Of course, not being allowed to wear make-up didn’t mean that I didn’t actually wear it, I just had to try and be a little clever about creating the ‘no make up’ make up look. Back then I didn’t really care about my brows other than that they were perfectly plucked, so with regards to Coloursport; their mascara was my go to. I used perfectly matched foundation and concealer- low to medium coverage so that you couldn’t really tell I was wearing any, and I regularly used Coloursports 30 Day Mascara, enhanced of course on a daily basis with eyelash curlers and plenty of clear mascara (I think my chosen weapon was by Miss Sporty, in case you were wondering!).
Although I stopped using Coloursport quite a while ago, from what I can remember, it wasn’t because I stopped liking the product, I just didn’t really have a need for it once I began wearing full make up on a day to day basis. I was recently sent their new 30 Day Brow Kit and 30 Day Mascara, and was really intrigued to try them again. It was only a few years ago that ‘doing your brows’ wasn’t a thing for us regular people. Now, its a completely different story and a majority of us view it as an essential part of our make-up routine, I for one very rarely leave my house with naked brows, so I was particularly looking forward to trying Coloursport’s brow kit!
Although I still rarely leave the house without make-up, I love finding beauty hacks to make myself look better without it! Us girls know that sometimes its just far more convenient not to wear it, think working out, at the Spa, or lounging around a pool on holiday. There are already some non-make up beauty products that I like to use, like the Clarins Radiance Booster that I spoke about in my Travel Beauty Must Haves post, so I was intrigued to see if the Coloursport products would make a good addition to my routine.
I personally found the brow kit super easy to use, at first the mixture looks a little too thick, but when you begin to brush it through your brows with the spoolie provided, it actually spreads out quite easily. You literally only have to leave the dye on for two minutes, and then wipe it off with a damp cotton pad.
Although the result definitely isn’t as defined as I like my brows on a day to day basis, the kit does make a marked difference! My brows are naturally this colour, so the kit did nothing to change that, but it must have picked up a few lighter hairs which has resulted in them looking fuller and more defined. I have to admit that I’m far too lazy to regularly add brow dying into my routine (even though it was a super easy and quick process), purely because I know I’ll continue to fill in my brows anyway. However I will definitely keep Coloursport in mind for holidays and trips to the Spa, which are particular times that I know I’ll be without make up. The set would definitely also be perfect for people who keep their brows natural but would like them to look a little fuller (or for those with blonde brows who wish them to be darker).
I’ll begin on a low note, by saying that I don’t like my natural lashes at all, they’re pretty short and there aren’t enough of them for my liking! I wear false lashes on a daily basis, and wear mascara religiously, so it would have taken nothing short of a miracle for me to have been converted by the 30 Day Kit. I tried my best, but didn’t get on nearly as well with the mascara as I did the brow kit. Although it was still a relatively simple process, I did slightly struggle to get the dye mixture to fully coat my lashes, and once I had (and it had been removed after the allocated minute) there was only the very slightest difference. In Coloursport’s defence, I already have quite dark lashes and although I thought that there may be some lighter ones that it could draw out, like the brow dye had, that just wasn’t the case. You may get on much better with this kit if you naturally have light eyelashes, but if you’re like me and have dark ones, this kit isn’t worth bothering with. In hindsight, I’m not sure whether it made a massive difference to my lashes when I used it in high-school, or whether it acted as a placebo effect to make me think that I was secretly wearing make up even though I shouldn’t be!
In summary, I’ll definitely be reaching for the brow kit again, I’m going to Greece soon so will definitely top up the dye before I go so that I have the option of days with less make up but still feeling put together!
Have you tried any 30 Day Kits like these ones? How did you get on? x
