April Favourites

Despite the showers, last month was my best month of the year so far. Not only did we have a few sunny days here in the UK, but April was also host to my first holiday of the year. I’m definitely not ready for May, but it’s here anyway! Before I put April to bed, here are my highlights…

Latest in Beauty, Sunday Times Style Awards 2018 Box

I won’t go into this in too much detail, because I have a dedicated post going up on Thursday, you already know its a good one because its in my favourites!

Revuele Argon Oil Eye Elixir Cream*

If you follow me on Instagram, then you may already know that I’ve been getting on really well with this. I’m a huge fan of argon oil, and this didn’t disappoint. The product has a thick cream consistency, which feels smooth and comfortable on the under-eye area. This hasn’t overtaken my love for the Clinique All About Eyes (which is much more pricey), but it has overtaken all of my other eye-creams.

April Favourites

Urban Decay, All Nighter Setting Spray

I purchased the mini version of this as my airport treat, and already regret not jumping into the deep end with the full size product. I used this all holiday: for wanders up and down the beach, pedalo travels, and laying out in the mid-day sun, it kept my make up perfect through it all. One consideration is the slightly unpleasant smell, however this doesn’t linger, and the product itself more than makes up for it.

Ikos Olivia, Halkidiki

Our Greek hosts, and the best one could ask for. This holiday was booked for the sole purpose of five days relaxing in the sun, but if you don’t like resort holidays then this wouldn’t be for you. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, Halkidiki saw an average of 23°c throughout our stay, and The Olivia is by far the best all inclusive hotel I’ve ever been to. In the evenings we were able to visit their four A La Carte restaurants; themed Asian, French, Greek and Italian. We were served the most amazing food (and I’m pretty critical) and were offered wine menus which I ordered by the glass (as I like a sweeter wine than the rest of my family) and the rest of the table ordered by the bottle. We only indulged in room service to our sea view balcony once, as the resort restaurants were far too nice to waste, but all of this was covered by the ‘all inclusive’ price. My parents regularly visit this hotel, but it took a trip there for myself to understand why they love it so much.

Wells Next-the-Sea

During those gorgeous few days in which the sun blessed us with its presence and the wind left us well alone, me and my partner took the opportunity to visit my favourite part of the North Norfolk coast. The Cookies and Cream and Bubblegum Marshmallow (weird combo I know, but I couldn’t decide) ice cream also made it into my favourites.

The Woman in the Window

Unfortunately, at home I’m rarely able to find the time to read as much as I used to, so whenever I’m off on a beach holiday, I like to pick up a book or two at the airport. The Woman in the Window was my choice for Greece. I have to admit, I was in a bit of a rush when I picked this up, and chose it because I thought it was written by the author of Gone Girl… it wasn’t. Nevertheless, I absolutely loved this book, it was so full of suspense and easy to read. I finished it within a few days, and found it similar to Gone Girl in its twisty-turny, dramatic storyline, so if you liked that, I’d recommend picking this up too.

April Favourites

Avengers, Infinity War

Another favourite that I’m not going to speak about in too much detail for risk of spoiling it for others. I will say that it was absolutely nothing like I expected it to be, in the most amazing way. Lets be honest, Disney will always have my heart.

  1. Omg, I love Urban Decay’s setting spray! I recently tried the Marc Jacobs one, which I hated, and then switched to the Mac Fix +, and I honestly loved it so so much! It was such an amazing product. I might actually like it better than Urban Decay! It doesn’t have the smell, and after a night of sweating and dancing, my makeup still ended up looking amazing! Great post Sophie, I’m glad to hear you had an amazing April! Hope May is even better! xxx

My latest post is my review on Infinity War and it’s such a long post (had to get it all out haha), but same, Disney and Marvel will always have my heart. 💕

  3. Great post! I loved Gone Girl so I’ll definitely look into a Woman in the Window. I can see how you got the authors confused though! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Infinity War. I want to see it but I couldn’t help getting my brother to spoil the whole thing for me so now there’s probably no point.

  4. Glad you enjoyed April! Hope you’ll have better months as the year goes by. Clinique’s All About Eyes is such a good product! I’ve used multiple containers to date. Glad the Revuele wasn’t disappointing. It’s so cool that you got to check out Halkidiki! The vibes look amazing. Have a great May!

  5. I’m here for all the holiday pictures! Although the sun is shining, I’m unfortunately still bound to work instead of lazily lying around… *deep sigh* An all-inclusive anything sounds like music in my ears! 😉 Also I can’t wait to see Infinity War! I keep hearing and seeing snippets about it and can’t wait to experience it myself!

  6. Love your photography Sophie! The Urban Decay setting spray is the best on the market, you should’ve just taken the plunge for a full size, though it is a bit pricey. Your holiday looks so dreamy, never been to Greece would love to go one day, will be coming back to this post for your recommendations when I do. Heard so many good reviews on the new Avengers, do I need to go watch it?

    1. The Woman in the Window is about a woman who has agoraphobia so she watches the world from the window, but sees something she shouldn’t and theres a whole load of twists and turns afterwards! It’s a great read! x

  7. I am so craving a Greek holiday it has been a while since we’ve been and I do love the islands but haven’t been to Haikidiki. I love the write up of the book, it’s one I haven’t read but as I loved Gone Girl I’ll keep an eye out for it
